How The Story of
DH Tattooing began
The story of DH Tattooing started back in 2009, in Livermore, CA, when Derek Herberth, our then 16-year-old founder, apprenticed for two years at a local tattoo studio. Having a passion and natural talent for art since childhood, Derek quickly became a skilled and passionate artist.
Because of that, Derek decided to chase his vision of creating a premier tattoo brand, a strong team, and a business with significant values, processes and standards that would stand out from the countless other tattoo studios.
The journey started with a dream
Derek’s journey began with a dream. That dream found Derek tattooing in top tier studios across the United States including Brooklyn, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA, and Oakland, CA. After searching for the right fit and experiencing many setbacks, lots of defeats and countless disappointments, the ambition to find and create what really worked for DH Tattooing held strong.
The founding of
Dh Tattooing
In 2017, Derek founded DH Tattooing in Berkeley, CA. Following this, his popularity and clientele quickly grew establishing DH Tattooing as one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier tattoo studios specializing in multiple tattoo styles. Those styles included Black and grey realism, American traditional, color tattoos, script, Japanese, for instance.
