Tattoo FAQs
Planning and preparing before getting your tattoo is essential. Therefore, we’ve answered the most common questions for you before you ever set foot in the tattoo studio. However, please feel free to contact us with any questions you have.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TATTOO SESSION?
Tattoo sessions take time. That means being prepared can make it a more enjoyable experience. Here are a few things to consider:
- Make sure you are well rested
- Stay well hydrated
- Eat something before your session
- Take a shower
- Charge your phone
- Don’t bring your kids. No really, don’t bring them
- Bring all of the necessary documentation
- Good work costs money - so bring it!
- If you’re diabetic plan for a crash (and prepare yourself!)
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY TATTOO SESSION?
It’s important to be comfortable, especially for longer sessions. Because of that, looser clothing is always better. Also, remember that you may want to be able to cover up certain areas that might show, depending on where you're getting your tattoo.
HOW SHOULD I PLAN FOR A LARGER TATTOO?
First things first, book a consult with us because the best tattoos start with a detailed plan instead of random pieces thrown together.
For this reason, we can always incorporate existing work, but it will look much better with a plan. On top of that, having the same artist for the entire piece will bring that plan to life in a seamless style and tattoo.
WHEN SHOULD I NOT GET TATTOOED?
It's important NOT to get tattooed when you are:
- Drunk
- High
- Pregnant (or may be)
- Scheduled for or recovering from surgery
- Still deciding what you want
- Sunburned (or may become)
- Un-showered
- With your kids
- Missing an ID
- Being pressured into it
- Being told by us that your tattoo plan is a bad idea
WILL GETTING A TATTOO HURT?
On a scale from 1 to 10, getting a tattoo is probably a 3. For instance, the best comparison is similar to having someone draw on you with a ball-point pen when you have a sunburn.
To clarify, while it doesn’t feel great, it’s more of a minor irritation than a constant pain. However, it in no way feels like a hypodermic needle shot from the doctor.
Most importantly, we will always do our best to make your visit to our tattoo studio as comfortable as possible.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL AFTER A TATTOO?
The majority of the healing process after getting a new tattoo is done within the first two weeks. However, the skin will still be working to heal and rejuvenate. Therefore, we recommend planning on 4-6 weeks for your skin to be healed and back to normal.
Why Do Tattoos Start To Itch While Healing?
As skin heals itself, the itch sets in about a week after getting your tattoo. However, this is 100% normal.
Firstly, a good moisturizer can help immensely. In addition to that, try running it under cold water for a few moments to relieve the itching.
Most importantly, remember: DO NOT SCRATCH IT!
Why Do You Require Deposits Before A Tattoo Session?
More often than not, we will have performed hours of work in drawing and preparation for your tattoo before you ever sit down in our chair. Because of this, deposits help to ensure you make it to your appointment. In addition, it helps make sure that we don't waste hours of work that never comes to fruition.
What Is Your Shop Minimum For A Tattoo?
Our shop minimum is $160.
Many people might not realize it, but we go through nearly the same amount of very expensive supplies to do a tattoo the size of a quarter as we do for a tattoo the size of a softball. In addition, everything has to be, and is, sterilized, before and after each session. Consequently, remember the phrase "you get what you pay for" when choosing a tattoo shop near you.
Should I Tip My Tattoo Artist?
While not required, you should ALWAYS tip those who provide great service. Whether that is your barber/hairstylist, waiter, or the kids at the lemonade stand down the street. In conclusion, If they provide you a service and you appreciate their work, you should tip them. For example, your tattoo artist.
What Happens If I’m Late To My Tattoo Appointment?
Don’t be late! Seriously!
To clarify, we recommend getting to your appointment 10-15 minutes early. Furthermore, if you’re late to your tattoo appointment, we may not be able to complete your artwork. Likewise, it will throw our schedule off for the entire day and that's not fair to our other tattoo clients.
What Happens If I No-Show To My Tattoo Appointment?
Similarly to showing up late to your tattoo appointment, just don't do it!
No-showing is a big no-no. Moreover, tattoo shop will keep your deposit. To clarify, your tattoo, if you do eventually get it, will cost you much more than it should have. However, you can avoid this by sticking to your tattoo appointments and communicating with you tattoo artist.
What is your refund policy?
We have a 30-DAY refund policy on most products. We have a strict NO REFUND policy on all TATTOOS and DEPOSITS. To learn more, please visit our Refunds & Returns Policy Page.
